Ferry Corsten talks new album ‘Blueprint’ and Webster Hall show (Includes interview)

Regarding the song selection process for his latest album, Corsten said, “In comparison to a normal album, this was based on an actual story. We came up with a story-line that we used for writing the lyrics. From the very beginning, the focus was on that story-line as a starting-point.”

While it was difficult for Corsten to select a personal favorite track on the album, one track that really stands out is “Reanimate” featuring vocals from Clairity.

On May 19, Corsten is headlining Webster Hall in New York City, where he is supporting his new Blueprint album. “I’m excited for that. It’s been a while. I’ve played there once before, and it’s nice to be back,” he said.

He listed acclaimed trance vocalist Emma Hewitt as his dream female duet choice. “I would love to work with Emma someday. She’s great, and we’ve talked about it,” he said.

On the future of electronic dance music in the next five years, he said, “Trance will still be popular, and bass music is very heavy right now. At the same time, the more pure forms of techno, as well as the pure forms of house and trance, are on the rise again. That sound is going to come back.”

Each day, Corsten is motivated by making music. “If it is not DJing, it is producing music. I don’t have a job. I have a hobby everyday, so when I wake up, I get out of bed with a smile,” he said.
