Executive producers Christa and Lati talk Jennifer Aniston film (Includes interview)

When asked how She’s Funny That Way came about, Christa said, “Lati and I got the project from Jeff Rice whom we work with a lot. We read the script that Peter Bogdanovich was putting together and immediately fell in love with it. We thought that producer Holly Weirsma would be a good match to finance it and be hands-on with Peter. We set up a meeting at the Chateau Marmont in hopes that Peter and Holly would fall in love with each other and thankfully they did and the film came together.”

It will be out on August 21, and it stars Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson. “It’s a feel good movie,” Lati said. “If You are expecting to see Einstein, stay home, but at the same time, those feel good movies sometimes have life lessons you won’t find anywhere else.”

Christa added, “It’s a fun film. It’s a fun film. I love these types of movies — a lot of heart, and a lot of laughs.”

On their plans for the future, Christa said, “Lati and I are juggling a number of films right now. We are in post on Leatherface, our Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel. Our film Experimenter that premiered at Sundance is coming out October 17, produced by Danny A. Abeckaser and Uri Singer. Also, we are really focused on doing the domestic sales on not only our films but handling other films as well.”

Their proudest professional moments include believing in movies that nobody did and subsequently seeing them at No. 1 at the box office, as well as being nominated for an Emmy award, and their mentors being proud of them. “I love making films, but when you get recognized for them, it makes it even better,” Christa said.

When asked what motivates them each day, Christa responded, “I love working the deal, that excites me and drives me, or making the sale. I do production on a lot of our films but behind the scenes, I’m working out the details on our next film.”

For aspiring filmmakers or film producers, Lati said, “Don’t ever give up, but I actually think you should give up if the project is shitty. Make sure you really have something good in your hands before you are committed full-heartedly. It’s easier to sell something good.”

Lati continued, “Don’t ever listen to the ones that tell you that you will never make it. There will always be that person who will put you down. I had one agent from CAA who told me to give up because it’s never gonna happen. That gave me a great push. Thank you Mr. Agent for launching my career.”

Christa added, “I say go for your dreams. In this business there are no rules. None. Shoot for the stars.”

For Jennifer Aniston fans and She’s Funny That Way, Lati concluded, “I would like to go and see the movie with them again. I can watch these kinds of movies again and again.” “Go see it,” Christa exclaimed.
