Canadian actor Evan Roderick chatted about starring in the new series “Providence Falls” on Hallmark.

This three-part adaptation is based on the Jude Deveraux and Tara Sheets book series.

The synopsis is: Detectives Cora (Katie Stevens) and Liam (Lachlan Quarmby) must solve a murder, all while Liam pushes Cora toward DA Finn Walsh (Evan Roderick), her fated match, in order to change their destinies, despite Liam’s hidden love for Cora.

Experience doing ‘Providence Falls’

“It was so much fun,” he admitted. “We got to shoot in Ireland and Vancouver, so we got to work with different accents. I did a mystery and I did romance; this project had everything in it, and it was a lot of fun.”

“I’m really proud of the visual department, the DP for the cinematography, and the directors. I’m just so proud of them,” he said.

Working with Katie Stevens and Lachlan Quarmby

On working with Katie Stevens and Lachlan Quarmby, he said, “They were a breeze to work with. It was easy for all of us to get along on this project. It became about the work right away, and we wanted to make this love triangle work for all of us.”

“We wanted to keep it interesting for the audience. They were just fantastic to work with,” he exclaimed.

Playing his character Finn

On playing his character Finn, Roderick said, “Finn is the assistant district attorney working in Providence Falls.”

“Finn is backbone of the story, and he’s the security in the story. Seemingly, he’s the person that’s going to be solid in the story and he’s a guy that harbors some secrets potentially,” he elaborated.

“I think he’s a good guy,” he admitted. ”He wants good for the people that he loves, including Cora.”

Lessons learned from this screenplay

On the lessons learned from this screenplay, Roderick reflected, “All of us harbor things and all of us put a certain face out into the world. That’s not a bad thing.”

“All of us are multifaceted, and we all have very different facets inside of ourselves and different versions of ourselves. This project helped me analyze that in myself,” he acknowledged.

Stage of his life

On the title of the current chapter of his life, Roderick revealed, “Forward Motion.”

“It’s a train and we are moving forward,” he admitted.

‘Leah’s Perfect Gift’ holiday film

Roderick recalled being a part of the Hallmark holiday movie “Leah’s Perfect Gift.”

“We shot that about nine or ten months ago,” he recalled. “It was a lot of fun working with Emily Arlook, who is fantastic. Christopher Shyer and Barbara Niven, who played my mom.”

“Also, Peter Benson directed that, and he was great,” Roderick added.

Closing thoughts on ‘Providence Falls’

“Thank you, first of all, I’m humbled and flattered to everybody that has been along for the journey so far,” he told his fans. “Thank you much for supporting me. It really does mean a lot, and it’s such a big part of what we do.”

For fans and viewers, Roderick remarked about “Providence Falls,” “I want people to be able to escape into it because it is one of those types of shows that you just escape into. It is so otherworldly and fantastical in so many ways.”

“I think there’s something for everybody in this show. I really do think that it’s for any demographic or any kind of person; I think it’s all there,” Roderick noted.

“I want them to walk away with a sense of hope and with love in their hearts, and a sense of inspiration for their own lives,” he concluded.
