Emmy winner Eva LaRue chatted about starring in “General Hospital” and the new Great American Family film “The Engagement Plan.”
‘General Hospital’
On being a part of the ABC daytime drama “General Hospital,” she said, “It has been great. The best thing about this soap opera is that there are so many actors there from ‘All My Children’ and they have all been so welcoming to me, and so lovely. It has really been a great experience.”
“While my character has not been the most beloved on the show, to put it mildly, I hope to be able to win some fans back in the future storylines,” she said.
She had great words about Cameron Mathison. “I love Cameron. He and I go all the way back ‘All My Children,’ and we’ve worked together so many times since then.”
‘The Engagement Plan’
On being a part of the new Great American Family movie ‘The Engagement Plan,” she said, “It was so much fun. We shot it two years ago, and we were waiting for it to come out. It was such a great group of people and so much fun. We shot it in North Carolina, and it was just amazing.”
“Both of the leads Jack Schumacher and Mia Pollini were total sweethearts and talented actors. Everybody in that cast was so good, sweet, and they all worked really hard,” she acknowledged.
“I modeled my character on a TikTok character I had seen… in a comedy piece on TikTok and I thought it was so funny, and they let me do it. This role was such a blast. I enjoyed playing such a super quirky character,” she elaborated.
‘The Young and The Restless’
LaRue was honored to have won the Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series” for her acting work in “The Young and The Restless.”
LaRue also praised fellow Emmy winner Jordi Vilasuso for his talent in acting.
“Jordi is such a talented actor. I had such great scenes with him in ‘The Young and The Restless,’ and I had to put those scenes in my Emmy reel. Jordi is such a sweetheart as well,” she added.
Johnny Wactor
LaRue paid a moving homage to slain “General Hospital” Johnny Wactor.
“While I didn’t know Johnny personally, his death was very heartbreaking,” LaRue said. “From what I heard from people, Johnny was the sweetest guy. Maurice Benard was really close with Johnny too, and his loss was heartbreaking for him too. We have lost a lot of soap opera actors over the last year alone.”
‘State of Mind’ with Maurice Benard
On being a part of Maurice Benard’s “State of Mind” podcast on mental health, she said, “It was great and it was really interesting. I knew that he was really struggling at the time, and he even said it at the beginning of our ‘State of Mind’ episode.”
“While Maurice was having a tough time those couple of weeks, he was the most lovely and kind person. Even in those trying times, he was still such a giving and wonderful actor and person,” she elaborated.
“I love what Maurice is doing to promote mental health awareness and self-care. His work in the mental health realm is just phenomenal,” she said. “His ‘State of Mind’ podcast is so great.”
Road Dogs Rescue event with Maurice Benard and Vanessa Marcil
She also spoke about participating in the Road Dogs Rescue event during the General Hospital Fan Club Weekend this past August in Los Angeles.
“That was really fun,” she admitted. “I had not seen Vanessa Marcil in ages. Vanessa was putting this event on with Maurice and it was a really fun and easy event. We showed up for a couple of hours, we hung out with the fans, and it was incorporated into the General Hospital Fan Club Weekend, which was really cool.”
“Vanessa is such a doll and so much fun. She has such amazing energy and she is so passionate about the charities, so it was great to see her and hang out with her for the night,” she added.
