Actress Emily Osment chatted about starring in the original CBS sitcom “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” opposite Montana Jordan. It is also available to stream on Paramount+.
‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’
“The first season has been so great,” she said about the sitcom. “I can’t believe we are finally airing our Season 1 finale episodes.”
Portraying Mandy McAllister
On playing Mandy, she exclaimed, “I love Mandy! I can’t believe it has been four years now that I’ve been playing this character. We’ve seen her fall in love, have a baby, move in with her parents, and now, do the weather for Channel 7.”
Working with Montana Jordan
On working with Montana Jordan as her leading man, she said, “Montana is great. We love Montana, he is such a sweetheart. He has his own baby at home and he is getting married this summer, so it is almost like we are writing his life for him.”
Lessons learned from this screenplay
On the lessons learned from this role and screenplay, she stated, “It has taught me to get more sleep. That’s a big one. I don’t even have a kid, and I’m tired a lot. That’s a big lesson.”
The digital age
On being a part of the digital age, which allows them to stream on Paramount+, she remarked, “The digital age is excellent. It gives our viewers a chance to watch up although we always love it when people watch us live.”
Actors she would like to do more scenes with
Osment revealed that she would love to do more scenes with veteran actress Annie Potts, who plays Constance “Connie” Tucker (Meemaw).
“We would love to have Annie Potts more than she is there,” Osment admitted.
“I absolutely love her Meemaw character; she is a riot, and I absolutely adore her. As much as we can get Annie on the show, the better,” she added.
Working with director Mark Cendrowski
On working with Mark Cendrowski, she said, “Mark is amazing! He directed hundreds and hundreds of episodes of ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ so he not only knows this world really well, but he knows sitcoms really well, and we are really lucky to have such an experienced director working with us all the time.”
“We also have a really great writing staff. We are very, very fortunate,” Osment added.
‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ Season 1 finale
Osment noted that she is thrilled about the Season 1 finale episodes, which air on May 15th.
“I am very excited about the Season finale,” she noted. “We are doing two back-to-back episodes, and hopefully, people will get a good idea of what Season 2 is going to be like.”
Dialogue-heavy
When asked how she handles being dialogue-heavy (where she has to learn and memorize many pages of scripts), she shared, “I am used to it.”
“I’ve been doing this for a long time. It’s nice. Hopefully, it will keep my brain healthy for a long time. At this point, the brain is a muscle,” she explained.
Advice for young and emerging actors
For young and aspiring actors, she encouraged them to “do their homework.”
Osment defines Success
Regarding her definition of the word success, she said, “Going to bed and waking up in the morning and being proud of yourself.”
Message for her fans and supporters
For her fans and viewers, she expressed, “Thank you for watching, and I hope you tune in for Season 2. It always shocks me when little kids come up to me and say that they are watching ‘Young Sheldon’ or an older generation telling me that they are watching us in ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’.”
“It is always a treat to see that this show is widely accepted by everybody. ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ is absolutely a family show,” Osment acknowledged.
