Electronic star Thomas Newson talks new track ‘Saxo’ (Includes interview)

When asked how “Saxo” came about, he said, “Well, when I started making the track I found this little vocal loop and immediately had an idea with it. I sent that as a preview to Will K just for some feedback and at the same time he was working on ‘Cafe Leche’ which has similar influences, so he said let’s do this one together I have some cool ideas with it. That’s basically how the collab was born and the track.”

The Dutch producer had nothing but the kindest remarks about his collaborator WILL K. “It was really good working with him! He did a really good job in the version I sent to him,” Newson said.

On his plans for 2017, he said, “This year, it all comes down to new music since I had writer’s block for more than six months. So I’m so curious what people think of the new stuff I’m going to release.”

While there are no plans for him to come and play another show in New York, Newson shared that he would love to come back.

Each day, Newson is motivated by all the nice comments and reactions that he receives from the fans, as well as his peers in the music industry. “That’s the best feeling and motivation to make new music,” he said.

When asked about his dream female collaboration choices, he admitted that he is not a big fan of female vocals on his tracks. “Sometimes if I like a female vocal, I really like it but I prefer male vocals. I would love to do a track with a rapper. That would be really dope,” he said.

For his loyal fans, he said, “Keep streaming ‘Saxo’ and don’t forget to shake that booty!”
