DJ Thomas Newson talks ‘Summer Vibes’ and electronic music (Includes interview)

On the electronic dance music scene, he said, I love “the fact that it’s very diverse and that I am able to keep releasing music that is different from each other! I simply love the energy in the music.”

The infectious “Summer Vibes” single is attracting a lot of attention.

“I produced the track and later on got Matias Lehtola and Claes Funke, two singer/songwriters from Sweden to record the vocals,” Newson said.

“It’s something different than people are used to expect from me. I just love to try different things. My friends tell me that the track keeps getting better and better with every play,” he said.

Regarding his future plans, he said, “I’ve got tons of new music that I’m releasing. One of them is a collaboration with my dad, Marco V, on Armada Music in September, it’s called ‘Together.’ I’m really curious to hear everyone’s thoughts on that one and can’t wait to premiere it soon. The vocal that Rumors did on that track is just amazing! I’m also doing a web-series on my YouTube page called ‘Thomas Newson Journals.’ First episode will be online soon.”

On the future of electronic music in the next five years, he said, “It’s hard to say. All I can think of is that one thing will never change; the energy!”

Newson listed songstresses Ellie Goulding and Tove Lo as his dream female collaboration choices. “I love both of their vocals on so many tracks,” he said.

On Aug. 22, Newson will be performing at Webster Hall in New York City.

“First, I’ll be playing at Hannah’s Pool Party in Atlantic City during the afternoon and later on playing Brites Nites at Webster Hall. I’m really happy with this booking as I love NYC,” he said.

When asked if he ever played in Greece, he responded, “Yes, I played in Athens as well as Crete. I got to see a bit of the city in Athens, beautiful! Crete was a nice summer hide-out, stayed there for three days in a nice villa at Star Beach last year. It was a dedicated crowd that came to the show; the best ones!”

For his fans, he said, “I really love all the support that you’ve been giving me in the past two years. It’s been an amazing ride and I have the feeling that I only just got started.”

Newson added, “I’ll be going on an Asian tour in September for two weeks with Revealed Recordings. Besides that, I will be coming to Canada and the U.S. this weekend.”
