DJ Nicky Romero talks electronic music, achievements and future (Includes interview)

Regarding the contemporary electronic dance music (EDM) scene, he said, “I love the way that it brings people together from all over the world. It proves that no matter where you’re from or what your background is, people can share amazing moments together and it all comes down to the music.”

Another fond experience for Romero took place a few weeks ago during Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. “It was a whole lot of fun, as EDC always is,” he said.

The Dutch DJ intends on staying very busy in the near future. “I have a lot of different projects going on, and I am working hard on Protocol Recordings and making new music,” he said.

Each day, Romero is motivated by his enthusiasm for his craft. “I love what I am doing, and I am very lucky to have a career doing what I love. I have a great team working with me, so it doesn’t really feel like work. We have a lot of fun,” he said.

Romero listed Sia and Rihanna as his dream female duet choices in music.

He actively stays connected with his fans and followers via his social media. “I try to use Twitter as much as possible to keep in touch with my fans. And of course they know they can always #TextNicky,” he said with a smile.

Romero’s proudest professional moment was winning a BMI award for “Right Now” with Rihanna. “I mean, as if making the track with her wasn’t already enough, it was a moment that I will never forget,” he said.

In 2014, Romero ranked No. 8 on DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs poll. “It’s a huge achievement for me and I am very grateful for all the support. Wouldn’t have gotten to No.8 without my amazing fans,” he said graciously.

For Romero, the word success means “Following your dreams and making them come true.” “A big part of it is to be in a position to help others make their dreams come true too. One of the best things for me is Protocol Recordings and being able to give upcoming artists a platform to get their talent out there,” he elaborated.

For his dedicated electronic dance music fans, he said, “You guys are awesome. Hope to see you at a gig soon! Thanks for your support.”

He further added, “It’s going to be a really exciting summer, so stay tuned to my socials for upcoming news and information.”
