DJ Cristian Varela talks electronic dance music and future plans (Includes interview)

In 2007, he was presented with the “Best Techno DJ” award at the DJ Awards that were held in Ibiza, and has been voted “Best Spanish DJ” on numerous occasions.

He is drawn to the electronic dance genre of music due to “the energy and the magic” that comes with it.

Regarding his plans for the future, Varela said, “My new album for Carl Cox’s label, Intec, and my live acts. Varela Concept is also a very beautiful project created to try to help our wounded planet with experimental music in the live shows.”

Varela listed Icelandic-born songstress Bjork as his dream female duet choice.

While there are no plans to come and play in New York City yet, Varela hopes that he will be afforded the privilege to perform in “The Big Apple” in the near future.

His greatest musical influences include such diverse artists as Vivaldi, Bach, Hans Zimmer, Vangelis, Kraftwerk and Ennio Morricone.

For Varela, he is equally comfortable working in the studio and playing in a live setting. “I cannot choose because I love them both. My work in the studio is necessary for my live acts, and vice versa,” he said. ”I am working very hard in the studio for movie soundtracks.”

Each day, Varela is motivated by his passion for music, since it affords him the possibility to make the people happy with it.

He defined the word success as “responsibility,” and he concluded by expressing his “love” for his fans.
