Singer-songwriter and actor Dez Duron (“The Voice” alum) chatted about being a part of “Maybe Happy Ending” and the Original Broadway Cast Recording album.

He spoke with members of the media on the red carpet of the 2025 Theatre World Awards, where he accepted an award on behalf of his co-star Helen J Shen.

On being a part of the 2025 Theatre World Awards, Duron said, “I am actually here accepting an award on behalf of Helen. She wanted to be here so bad but she couldn’t be here, so I just came to tell everybody ‘thank you’ for her.”

Transition from ‘The Voice’ to Broadway

Regarding his transition from “The Voice” to the Broadway stage, he remarked, “I like Broadway much, much better. People are much nicer here.”

Advice for young and emerging performers

For young and aspiring actors, singers, and performers, Duron said, “Just keep at it, and keep loving it. Don’t let the business side and the grind of it steal your original love.”

“The longer you can hold on to that first love, the better,” he added.

‘Maybe Happy Ending’ Original Cast Recording

On being a part of the “Maybe Happy Ending (Original Cast Recording)” album, he said, “It felt incredible.”

“As someone from a small town in Louisiana, I fell in love with shows through cast recordings, so that was particularly special for me to be a part of something like that, especially for kids that can’t make it to Broadway theaters can hopefully experience our show now,” he elaborated.

Stage of his life

On the title of the current chapter of his life, Duron revealed, “Enjoyment.” “I am just loving it,” he admitted.

Success

Regarding his definition of the word success, Duron said, “Success is figuring out who you want to be, and pursuing that every day.”

Message for his fans

“Thank you so much for being so kind to me. Thanks for sticking with me since ‘The Voice’… it has been a really wild ride, so thank you for being here and for always supporting and encouraging me.”

“I hope this show inspires them to love the people around them, help the people around them, and live life to the fullest,” he concluded.
