Deorro discusses new single ‘Existence,’ electronic music career (Includes interview)

Regarding his new single “Existence,” Deorro said, “I wanted some kind of theme song for the bus tour so that’s what gave me the idea. It took me a couple tries, but in the end, it was deciding to go with some of my older sounds that worked out for me.”

On his plans for 2018, Deorro said, “I tweeted what it was that people wanted to hear from me because I dedicate this year not only to myself but to the people as well. A large portion of my audience wants EDM, another wants commercial, and other wants something completely brand new. The majority of my audience wants Latin, and as a music lover, I will go ahead and try to come through for everyone.”

Deorro continued, “At the end of the day, I love seeing other people happy because it makes what I do worth it, so you’ll hear all kinds of music from this year. As a matter of fact I’ve already got three EDM singles coming, three commercial tracks and the Latin album is still coming together, so it’s a guarantee that you will be hearing a lot of music from me.”

He is drawn to electronic music due to the genre’s “diversity.” “I feel as if it only gets faster and faster, like right now, it feels like every month is a new genre which is dope. I’m glad it’s not standing still,” he admitted.

Deorro added, “I want to interact with my audience again like I used to back in the day. I feel like I got too busy and lost things like live streaming and things like that. I really miss it so I’m already planning to live stream again maybe have some public soccer and baseball games and even a BBQ at the beach. Overall, I just want to get back as many ways as possible and spend some hang time with those that are the reason I am where I am today.”

Each day, Deorro is motivated by keeping his mind open to new ideas. “That allows me to be inspired by almost anything so something as simple as going out and having a good time with my team can inspire a feel-good kind of song,” he said. Something as simple as reminiscing some of my childhood moments can easily grab my attention and that alone can spark up an idea. Family has always been crucial to me and it’s taking care of them that taught me to always drive forward cause it’s dangerous to drive backwards. Thanks to them, my mentality has been to work hard, and remember there’s always a way.”

Digital transformation of electronic music

On the digital transformation of the electronic music business, Deorro said, “As time goes by, I feel that technology gets more advanced but more accessible. Who knows? We might start coming across younger and younger producers, plus I feel that today’s world is influencing the younger crowd more than ever, but I can vouch for technology being the reason why producers can have so much power. You have the power of a drum-line at your finger tips, realistic-sounding orchestras and so much that wasn’t possible a few years ago. Just imagine what things will be like in five to ten years from now.”

Deorro listed Adele, Alicia Keys and Angela McCloskey as his dream female collaboration choices. “The list goes on,” he said. “As a producer, I always treat voices as another instrument so it can blend even better when the production comes together.”
