Dear Rouge plays Athabasca for Canada Day celebrations (Includes first-hand account)

Dear Rouge is a Vancouver based electronic rock band, formed in 2012 by Danielle and Drew McTaggart, famous for such songs as “I Heard I Had” and “Black to Gold.” They recently released their debut album Black to Gold in March 2015.

A Canadian music success story, Dear Rouge is a band to keep your eye on in the future for more great music. Canada has produced many great bands and musicians such as The Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo, Finger Eleven, and many others. However as groups like Dear Rouge and Mother Mother have proven, Canadian music shows no signs of slowing down.

What better way to kick of Canada Day, than with some great Canadian music? The future of Canadian music is in good hands, with all the great bands out there that call Canada home. The River Rats festival continues for Canada Day, with more music including some local bands as well as Gil Grand. The festivities will end with fire works on the night of July 1. Previous River Rats Festivals have seen performances by Bif Naked and other Canadian music icons. .

Happy birthday Canada, thanks for the poutine, democracy and great music, not necessarily in that order. Canadian music is enjoyed around the world, with many talented musicians coming from all walks of life, from every corner of our nation. It does not matter what your musical tastes may be, there is something for everyone when it comes to Canadian music. There are many great bands playing on Canada Day all across the country, so why not take in some live music.
