David Lipper (“Full House” alum) chatted about the new thriller “Off the Grid,” where he served as both actor and producer.
In “Off the Grid,” after a morally-bankrupt company tries to weaponize a brilliant scientist’s revolutionary technology, he goes off the grid to safeguard humanity.
When the company sends a strike force to find him, they make their biggest mistake of all – they weaponize the man they are trying to catch.
Armed with unrivaled brains and brawn, the wild genius turns Guerilla warfare into a deadly science. In “Off the Grid,” Lipper played the role of Eddie.
Working with Johnny Martin as director
On working with director Johnny Martin, Lipper said, ““It was great. Johnny is a very passionate director, and he brought a lot of that energy to the set, and I think it was felt through the cast; that’s why you saw a lot of really good performances.”
Working with Josh Duhamel
On working with Josh Duhamel as the male lead, Lipper said, Josh Duhamel is always great; we have done four movies together. Josh is probably the easiest actor I’ve ever worked with; he truly is. Josh is there to do the job and there is no ego.”
“Josh came in each day with great, positive energy, he knew his lines and he delivered every time. Josh is a brilliant actor, he looks good on camera, and he is such a pro,” Lipper added.

Working with Maria Elisa Camargo
Lipper complimented Maria Elisa Camargo as the female lead in “Off the Grid.” “Maria Elisa Camargo was great; she came in with a tremendously positive attitude. She had good energy, and she was always smiling off-screen,” Lipper said.
“When you have two leads (Josh and Maria), who came in with such an attitude that makes everybody feel good, it makes the job easier for us. As a producer, those are the people I want to cast. I can’t stress enough how important that is,” Lipper elaborated.

Working with Oscar nominee Greg Kinnear
On working with Academy Award nominee Greg Kinnear, Lipper said, “I grew up being a fan of Greg Kinnear for decades. This guy was a massive movie star; he has been in some of the greatest movies such as ‘As Good As it Gets’ and many others.”
“The fact that we have Greg Kinnear as the No. 2 to Josh Duhamel in this movie as a complicated villain is just incredible. Greg is so intelligent and puts attention to every detail,” Lipper added.
Working with Lenka Padysakova as costume designer
On working with Lenka Padysakova as the costume designer, Lipper said, “I’ve done two movies with Lenka. She is a consummate professional, and she is very easy to work with. We are building a club here at Latigo Films of positive, well-mannered people that we want to keep working with.”
“They are all team players, and they do great work, so we keep hiring them. We are pretty loyal, and that’s why we keep working. It is so difficult today to make an indie movie if you don’t have good people like Lenka around you,” he elaborated.

Closing thoughts on ‘Off the Grid’
For fans and viewers, Lipper remarked, “I grew up a MacGyver fan when I was a kid, so I always loved this kind of movie. Jim Agnew did a really good job constructing a script that is a throwback to the old MacGyver days… he could take a matchbook and a piece of wood and create a bomb.”
“That really is a throwback to that fun, especially for those of us that used to watch shows like that back in the day,” he recalled.
“Josh plays a fun character in that he is ‘off the grid’ and in the middle of nowhere and able to take out a whole fleet of bad guys due to his brain and ingenuity. Maria did a great job as a romantic counterpart,” he elaborated.
“Ricky Russert did a great job as well; he is the quintessential bad guy, while Peter Stormare is a legend as the king of bad guys,” Lipper concluded.
