Veteran actress Danica McKellar (“The Wonder Years”) chatted about her new math book “I Love You 100” and her new Great American Family film “Have We Met This Christmas?”

New holiday film ‘Have We Met This Christmas?’

Her new holiday movie “Have We Met This Christmas?” will premiere this Saturday, December 13th on Great American Family.

It is also available to stream on Thursday, December 11th, on Great American Pure Flix.

The synopsis is: An ambitious real estate executive, Katie Stone (McKellar) awakens at The Merry Mountain Inn with amnesia after a car accident, and she is embraced by the resort’s warm holiday spirit and the family who owns it – especially the innkeeper’s son, Emmett Jones (Jesse Hutch), a man from her forgotten past.

The last time they were together, she vowed never to speak to him again, but now she finds herself falling in love all over again, all the while helping the family strategize how to stop escrow and hold on to the Inn they love.

Though Emmett knows it’s only a matter of time before she regains her memory, he can’t help but embrace this second chance at her love.

For now, she doesn’t remember him… or the fact that hers is the company buying the Inn. As the spirit of Christmas surrounds her, Katie eventually discovers that sometimes losing your way is the only true path to finding love, and yourself.

“Ironically enough, this is my 12th Christmas movie, and it coincides with the release of my 12th Math book,” she said. “I did one for Lifetime, seven for Hallmark, and this is my fourth for Great American Family.”

“This is the first movie that I wrote. While I did contribute to the writing on ‘A Cinderella Christmas Ball,’ this one was really my baby, and my idea,” she noted.

“When I wrote the entire story, I thought I was going to be writing a novel actually. Then, Great American Family wanted to do it as a movie,” she said.

McKellar continued, “So, I was like, ‘Hey, guess what?’ I already started writing the novel. The whole outline is done. Then, Riley Weston, who is a friend of mine, and I took turns writing the scenes in the movie, and then we brought them together. She was so much fun to work with.”

“You will see the credits say ‘Story by Danica McKellar’ and teleplay by Danica McKellar and Riley Weston. It’s just a great experience to really get to see this movie from inception because I had always wanted to play a character who gets amnesia,” she said.

“I have been incredibly involved in this project from beginning to end, which I absolutely love. It’s so fulfilling to get to be a part of it where create it and really get to see the finished product,” she said.

“It’s a story of a second chance at love made possible only because my character doesn’t remember her ex-boyfriend or that she never wanted to speak to him again,” she said.

“Also, I play a real estate buyer who is in the process of buying his family’s inn but I don’t remember that,” she said. “So, when I find out that they don’t really want to sell, I helped them to hatch a plan to save the inn for myself, without realizing that I’m the big corporation.”

Working with Jesse Hutch

On working with Jesse Hutch as her leading man, she said, “It was great! We’ve been friends for a long time. It was fun to actually get to work together. Jesse is fantastic in this movie!”

Lessons learned from this screenplay

On the lessons learned from this screenplay, she shared, “It taught me how much I love writing screenplays and that I’ll probably keep doing it more, for sure.”

‘I Love You 100’ Math book

On her new Math book, she remarked, “This is my 12th McKellar math book. It’s teaching kids how to count to 100 all in the context of unconditional love from a mom to her child.”

“The mother and the child have somewhat of a resemblance to me and my son, Draco, because this is probably my last math book for a while,” she said.

McKellar continued, “So, I just wanted to make this one about love and really recognizing that. Parents are just so busy and distracted these days more than ever. It’s so important to sit down and read with your child, especially to help our kids understand our unconditional love for them.”

“This book not only provides the opportunity for bonding, just because you’re sitting down and reading with your child, but the book itself also has the tools of communicating what unconditional love looks like,” she noted.

“Meaning I love you, whether you’re upset or happy or making a mess or whatever the situation is. All the pages have these different situations on them to see that the child is loved no matter what,” she explained.

“Of course, the book, like all of my McKellar math books, also works to help your child become more comfortable with Math and numbers,” she added.

2025 Christmas Con in New Jersey

McKellar revealed that she is excited about Christmas Con in New Jersey this weekend.

“It has become such a tradition,” she admitted. “It is always so great to meet and greet the fans, and actually, my new Great American Family movie ‘Have We Met This Christmas?’ premieres on December 13th, which falls during Christmas Con.”

Message for her fans

For her fans, she remarked, “The movie turned out great, and Jesse did an incredible job. I will be live tweeting during the premiere on Saturday, December 13th. Also, Great American Family is now also available on YouTube TV.”

“Also, I would appreciate if my fans can go and write reviews for my Math book,” she concluded.
