Dame Vera Lynn’s 100th birthday was a national holiday in England

During The Changing of the Guard, the Royal Household Cavalry played her signature song “We’ll Meet Again” in the courtyard of Buckingham Palace.

In addition, the spitfires flew over the White Cliffs of Dover, in honor of her song “(There’ll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs of Dover,” which she performed during World War II. They also projected Dame Vera’s face onto the cliffs on March 20 in the evening, and giant blue birds were put on the National Trust cliffs.

She was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1969, and she was invested to a Dame Commander of the British Empire (DBE) in 1975. More recently, in 2016, she was made a Companion of Honour (CH) for her services to entertainment and charity.

Dame Vera Lynn chatted with Digital Journal about her new CD and 100th birthday.
