Country star Robby Johnson talks new single ‘Shady’ and future (Includes interview)

On his latest radio single, “Shady,” Johnson said, “Being with a high-profile producer in Nashville, I received an e-mail, and I listened to the song on an mp3, and I really liked the way the lyrics were made. It was really cool and I really loved it. I knew the voice on the demo, and it sounded like Sam Hunt. No wonder it was a great song. We were really happy and we were fortunate to have it.”

Regarding his future plans, he said, “The single is starting to play on SiriusXM, so we are hoping that it does really great. The reaction is awesome and the sales have been really good. We are just hoping that it continues growing, and that we can release the album in the fall, and start announcing touring dates.”

He added, “I have a new project coming out with France and it’s with a major label there. It’s going to be pretty big.”

Johnson listed his mentor, Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson as his dream duet choices in music. “Miranda is awesome, and so is Carrie. Kelly Clarkson is a great performer too. Whoever raises their hand, I am going to do it,” he said with a neat laugh.

Similar to other country artists, Johnson paid homage to late country star Lynn Anderson. “Lynn had a heavenly voice, and she is now in heaven,” Johnson said.
