Jerry Greer was only 19 years old, and is survived by his parents country music star Craig Morgan and his wife, Karen Greer, as well as his sister, Aly Beaird, and brother-in-law Ryan Beaird, and his brother Kyle Greer and his fiance Chelsea Rogers, and brother Wyatt.
The Humphreys County Sheriff’s Department in Tennessee recovered Jerry’s body yesterday evening after a search that began on Sunday, following a boating accident on Kentucky Lake in Tennessee. Jerry was a 2016 graduate of Dickson County High School, and he planned on playing football for Marshall University in the fall. His funeral arrangements are pending.
Craig Morgan and his family are grateful for all of the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. They are requesting prayers as they are privately mourning the loss of their son.
A veteran country singer, Morgan is best known for his chart-topping single “That’s What I Love About Sunday,” which is his sole No. 1 tune of his career, which stayed at the top spot for four weeks. In 2005, Billboard declared the song at the No. 1 country single of the year. Morgan is a member of the Grand Ole Opry family.
A fitting tribute to his son, Jerry, is the following haunting, yet beautiful tune by country songstress Chely Wright.
