On September 27, Montgomery announced that he lost his son, Hunter, after an accident that had him on life support in a Kentucky hospital. Hunter was only 19 years old.
“My son Hunter went to heaven today,” Eddie Montgomery said in a press release. “I appreciate all your prayers and love and thank you for giving us privacy as we grieve and say goodbye,” he added.
The funeral arrangements for Montgomery’s son, Hunter, are still pending.
Earlier this year, on April 10, Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry from Montgomery Gentry were both inducted into the prestigious Kentucky Music Hall of Fame. They have also been members of the Grand Ole Opry for six years. The duo had released their Folks Like Us studio album in June, which was produced by Michael Knox, via their new record label Blaster Records, through RED Distribution. Eddie is the brother of country star John Michael Montgomery.
