Country singer Brett Young talks ‘Sleep Without You,’ future (Includes interview)

Sleep Without You” moves up one spot to No. 9 on the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts, for the week of October 22. “It keeps surprising us. It keeps moving up,” Young said.

A native of California, Young was out on the road touring with Brad Paisley on his “Country Nation College Tour,” and he will join Justin Moore and Lee Brice for their “American Made Tour” in 2017. “The Brad Paisley tour has been a blast. He is such a great dude and his whole crew is very kind and easy to work with,” he admitted. “I’ve been a huge fan of Lee Brice for a really long time, and just recently, I got to know Justin a little bit since we are both over at Big Machine. I can’t wait. I am excited to get out there with them.”

His work ethic as an artist is derived from his background in sports. “Growing up, I played three sports and I was on good teams that were successful. I always want to make sure that there is nobody out there working harder than me,” he said. “I am motivated by watching people around me.”

Regarding his plans for the future, Young said, “We are doing six more songs for our full-length album for next year. We are half way done. We go back in November to finish the album up. If you listen to the album front to back, you get to know me a little bit better as a person.”

He listed Nicole Scherzinger as his dream female duet choice. “Nicole has such a great voice. With all the crossover duets that are happening in country music, I think it would actually be fun to do a song with her,” he said.

For his fans, he concluded, “Thank you so much for getting the word out and for being loyal.” He defined success as “Being able to put food on the table by doing something you love.”

Young’s self-titled EP is available on iTunes.
