Country artist Rob Wolf chatted about his new single “Destiny,” and his dream to someday collaborate with Reba McEntire.
‘Destiny’ single
On his new song “Destiny,” he said, “It came about one night as I was playing with an idea about writing my own version of a small town, boy-meets girl love story when suddenly, destiny struck, so to speak.”
“As I was working, that word kept playing in my mind. What came to life was a song about a girl named Destiny, who captures the heart of a small-town boy and helps to fulfill his destiny,” he said.
Music and songwriting inspirations
Regarding his music and songwriting inspirations, he said, “I find inspiration in the day to day. If I see a snowy mountain on my drive to town, I might write about it. If I am at a crossroads in life, I might write about it to help me through it.”
“If my heart hurts a little too much, I will write about it. Rather than seek inspiration, I just live my life and the music comes from there,” he expressed.
“It is my greatest passion and helper. You will usually find me writing about Montana and my small hometown, exploring the outdoors, riding horses and other cowboy things, and of course, the ladies,” he said.
Future plans
On his future plans, he shared, “My plans for the future include continuing to write, record, and release music, do a tour in the Northwest in 2024, and hopefully release some consistent chart toppers that will get me on stage at the Grand Ole Opry performing my music.”
The digital age
On being a country artist in the digital age, he said, “Being an artist in the digital is hard. Nowadays everyone is making videos and sharing them, so the market and everyone’s talent is much more accessible and in your face.”
“Some people use the word diluted, but I think it’s great because the social media music scene is exploding and there’s a ton of talented people on there with new music and sounds. I love that it gives them an avenue for sharing their work and gives more people the chance to be successful in music,” he elaborated.
Advice for young and aspiring country artists
For young and aspiring country artists, he said, “Take things slowly, to find the right producer and support team, because music is a long-term game. I am actually mentoring a guy right now who is dipping his toes into music.”
“I keep telling him I also think that it’s important to continually practice your art and believe in yourself and what you create. Don’t let the opinions of others stifle you,” he added.
Dream duet choice: Reba McEntire
Wolf listed Reba McEntire as his dream collaboration choice in music, whom he dubs as the “Queen of Country.”
Success
On his definition of the word success, he said, “The word success is relative, and changes as my perspectives about life change. But most recently, it was when a fan stopped me to say hello. She knew me, but I didn’t know her, and I thought wow, I am picking some traction here in the music industry. It made me feel successful and proud of the hard work that I have been doing.”
Closing thoughts on ‘Destiny’
He remarked about the single, “My single has a couple of messages within the song. The first one would be that you never know how quickly your life can change, so don’t get too hung up on the details, because they can take a right turn in an instant.
“I would love the take-away to be that if you want something, go after it. You never know when you’re going to be walking into your destiny,” he concluded.
