Comedy Central Will Broadcast Musical Special ‘A Colbert Christmas’ on Nov. 23

Talk-show host and comedian Stephen Colbert is breaking out of his weeknight routine to front a musical special co-starring Jon Stewart. “A Colbert Christmas The Greatest Gift Of All!” airs on Nov. 23 at 10 p.m. The song-heavy show features Feist, Willie Nelson and Toby Keith.

Digital Journal — What’s a holiday TV season without one of the top-rated late-night shows dishing out its own Christmas special? Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report is now joining the fray with his own musical special called “A Colbert Christmas.” Consider this a sing-a-long with a celebrity-laden (albeit demented) twist.

Airing on Comedy Central on Nov. 23 at 10 p.m. ET, “A Colbert Christmas” is one hour of Colbert interacting with various music personalities. The show’s storyline follows Colbert on his way to meet with Elvis Costello in New York City. But he gets snowed-in at his cabin in upstate New York. He weathers the storm with help from his friends Feist, Toby Keith, John Legend, Willie Nelson and Jon Stewart.

The special features original songs that include Willie Nelson’s “Little Dealer Boy”, “Hannukah” with Jon Stewart, and “There Are Much Worse Things to Believe In” starring Costello.

The DVD of “A Colbert Christmas” will hit stores on Nov. 25. The DVD will also have a “book-burning Yule log,” video advent calendar, alternate endings and more.

A portion of the DVD’s proceeds will benefit the charity Feeding America.
