Columbia recording artist ayokay talks new single ‘The Shine’ (Includes interview)

Regarding his song “The Shine,” he said, “Chelsea Cutler has been my favorite female vocalist. I’ve heard her do acoustic covers posted on Soundcloud two years back, and since then, I’ve been absolutely obsessed with her. Finally, we arrange a session in New York and it was just perfect. It was my favorite production that I’ve done, and she was my favorite vocalist, and they came together super well.”

On his plans for the future, he said, “I will keep releasing singles for now. The aim is to get a fall tour on the books: to be a support on some electronic act. Releasing singles will be the best thing for me, and I will continue on that route.”

For ayokay, signing with Columbia Records has been an “amazing experience.””They really understand our vision, and it seemed like an amazing fit,” he said. “They have invested a lot with the project, which is really cool to see. It has been good so far.”

“The fans give me the opportunity to do what I love every day, and that’s the most incredible thing,,” he concluded. “We have seen such an amazing response from all the music we’ve released so far. It touches people, and they really identify with the music. We are so thankful and I’m excited to keep growing and to go on my first tour.”

“The Shine” garnered a glowing review from Digital Journal. It is available on iTunes.
