Actor Cody Bruno chatted about starring in vertical dramas and being a part of the digital age.

Vertical dramas

On being a part of vertical dramas, Bruno said, “I was hesitant at first, but stepping into vertical dramas opened a completely new creative space for me.”

“I’m grateful to be working, growing, and reaching audiences in a format that’s evolving in real time,” he added.

In the new vertical drama, “I Slept with My Dad’s Best Friend,” he plays the protagonist Christian Baxter, opposite Cayla Brady, who portrays Hannah, the daughter of his character’s best friend.

This mini-series reached No. 1 in the streaming platform Vigloo (where it ranked as the most popular among the fans).

On being a part of this series, Bruno said, “Honestly, it was one of the best sets I’ve ever been on. From the producers to the director to the crew and cast, there was a real sense of trust and collaboration.”

“It made the work feel fun, focused, and alive every day,” he added.

Playing Christian Baxter

On playing Christian Baxter, Bruno said, “What I loved most about Christian was his balance of strength and vulnerability. Christian came from nothing, learned how to navigate power and wealth, but he never let those things harden him.”

“That contradiction made him human — and worth protecting,” he added.

Working with Cayla Brady as his leading lady

On working with Cayla Brady as his leading lady, Bruno said, “Cayla was fantastic to work with. She has a natural ease on camera and a sharp sense of play, which made our scenes feel effortless.”

“Cayla is incredibly talented, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her career keep climbing,” he added.

The digital age

On being an actor in the digital age, at a time when streaming, technology, and social media are so prevalent, Bruno stated, “It feels chaotic and exciting at the same time. The industry is shifting fast, and while that uncertainty can be intimidating, I actually think it’s opening doors.”

“There are more opportunities now for creators who might’ve never fit into the old Hollywood system — and that’s a good thing<” he added.

Future plans

Regarding his future plans, Bruno shared, “Long term, I see myself creating my own films — stories that challenge people and leave something behind.”

“Acting is the foundation, but storytelling is the end goal,” he acknowledged.

Advice for young and aspiring actors

For young and emerging actors, Bruno said, “Never show what you think they want to see. Be yourself, and stay in the moment — that’s what will set you miles apart from everyone else.”

Success

On his definition of the word success, Bruno said, “Success, to me, is being able to make a living doing what I love without losing myself in the process.”

“In a world that constantly pressures people to copy what works, staying authentic feels like the highest form of success,” he added.

Message for his fans and supporters

For his fans and supporters, Bruno said, “To everyone who helped make the series No. 1 on Vigloo — thank you. Your support truly means more than you know, and I’m incredibly grateful.”
