Singer-songwriter Cloe Wilder chatted about her new EP “Life’s a Bitch,” which was released on March 21st.

This six-song collection includes the now 19-year-old singer-songwriter’s new singles “Tallahassee” and “Cigarette.”

“Tallahassee,” the EP’s opening track co-written with Theo Kandel and Jack Klein, is a song of transition, stemming from a falling out Cloe was experiencing in her life as she was moving from Florida to Los Angeles last year.

How did you approach the song selection process for the new EP?

I wrote most of the project in a couple weeks. Every song I made felt like it had a place on the project. I love when that happens.

What is your personal favorite song on there?

“Fear of the Fall” is my current favorite. It’s one of those songs I didn’t expect myself to write.

What inspires your music and songwriting?

I make most of it about me. I write about people in my life, locations, interactions; what happened and how it made me feel.

What do your plans for the future include?

I’ve only gotten as far as this year… I’m going to write an obnoxious amount of songs and keep touring!

How does it feel to be an artist in the digital age? (Now with streaming, technology, and social media being so prevalent)

I try not to think too hard about it. Everything comes in waves. I’m just grateful that touring never changes. That’s the one human thing musicians can count on.

What is your advice for young and emerging artists?

There’s no shame in taking your time. Write for yourself first, then figure the rest out.

What does the word success mean to you?

Being able to be a consistently working artist with people listening to me; making a living out of that in some way and always being grateful for it.

What would you like to tell our readers about the new EP? (What’s the one thing you want them to get out of it)

Truly whatever they want. That might be my favorite thing about this EP – I think it covers a lot of bases.
