On her latest radio single, “More,” Dunn said, “The day that me, Josh [Kear] and Gordie [Sampson] got together, and Josh threw out the title “More,’ and I added the thought ‘No one’s gonna love you more.’ We had similar ideas and didn’t even know it. We were off to the races at that point. It was a very effortless song to write. We all really felt like we were on to something special.”
She added, “The fans should check ‘More’ out. No matter who you love in your life, this song is for you. It could be romantic love, family love or friendship love.”
Regarding her future plans, Dunn said, “We are working on new music as we speak. We are on the road a lot this fall playing shows for radio stations, and we are just cranking and rocking away.”
Dunn shared that touring with Bob Seger was a great deal of fun, especially “the first time around.” “It was such a life-changing experience for me, and so much fun,” she admitted.
Each day, Dunn is motivated by music. “It’s the thing I wake up for, and the thing I go to sleep thinking about,” she explained. “It’s about finding the next song, or the next record, and the whole process of playing the next show.”
On the impact of technology on the country music business, Dunn said, “I think technology is awesome. It’s a way for people to have music at their fingertips, that they want to hear. It’s a great way to discover new music that you might not hear anywhere else. Technology gives power to the people, and that’s what it’s all about.”
She listed Keith Richards and Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones as her dream collaboration choices, as well as three-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Eric Clapton. “I’ll play guitar and Mick [Jagger] can sing. Let’s put Mick at the top of that list. We can have our own version of The Rolling Stones” she said, with a sweet laugh.
For aspiring country singer-songwriters, she encouraged them to “just keep at it.” “Believe in yourself and know that your vision is valid. Also. be willing to sacrifice, and get after it,” she said.
She defined the word success as “waking up every day and doing what you love, that way, you don’t work a day in your life.”
