Actor and singer Christopher J. Hanke chatted about being a part of the 2025 Acting Company GALA.

The evening was hosted on Monday, April 21st, by emcees Tina Benko and Patrick K. Dooley.

This one-night-only event celebrated more than 50 years of developing emerging actors by bringing classics and new plays across the country giving artists, audiences and students the chance to dream and imagine what their lives could be as kings, queens, heroes, villains, scholars and creators.

The GALA featured a cocktail hour, followed by a silent auction, special guests, performances, a gourmet dinner, live music and dancing.

Tony winner Bartlett Sher was recognized with the “John Houseman Award,” while Timothy A. Wilkins (Chair of the New York Public Radio Board and leading attorney) was bestowed the Joan M. Warburg Award.

Hanke on the 2025 Acting Company GALA

On being a part of the 2025 Acting Company GALA, Hanke remarked, “I am an actor and the flesh and blood of the American theatre are the actors, and the human bodies.”

“To be a part of helping raise money for the Acting Company and all of the actors that come through the company was an honor. We had a really fun time,” he acknowledged.

Significance of the Acting Company

On the importance of the Acting Company, he underscored, “I’m an actor, I am an artist, I love theatre. I want young kids to see classical plays and new plays all across the country in schools and communities where there isn’t a lot of live professional theatre.”

“I hope people donate to the Acting Company; it will help immensely to get professional theatre to these incredible school districts,” he added

‘After Forever’

Hanke enjoyed being a part of the multi-Emmy award-winning digital series “After Forever,” which was co-created by Kevin Spirtas and Michael Slade. Hanke played the role of Stefan for multiple episodes.

He also remembered the late but great screenwriter and co-creator Michael Slade, and described his passing as a “tremendous loss” in the industry.

For his acting work in “After Forever,” Hanke was nominated for the 2020 Indie Series Award for “Best Guest Actor in a Drama.”
