Christina Novelli talks electronic dance music, ‘Same Stars’ (Includes interview)

Regarding the success of her smash single “Concrete Angel” with Gareth Emery, she said, “It feels a lifetime ago. I never knew how huge that track would be when I wrote it and it totally changed my life! I still love performing it at shows.

She also collaborated with Gareth Emery on the hit song “Dynamite.” “We wanted to collaborate after the success of ‘Concrete Angel’ but also just wanted to do something fun and more commercial. The video was my absolute favourite to film! We shot it during Winter Music Conference (WMC), we had helicopters and loads of other cool shit,” she said.

On her plans for the future, the songstress said, “I released my first solo single ‘Same Stars’ this year and absolutely loved it! I have another two singles already written and produced so will be focusing on them. I’m really lucky to have such an amazing fan-base and have Garuda and Armada supporting my solo work.”

When asked about her New Year’s Resolutions for 2016, she said, “Literally never make them because I never keep them! Haha! It’s always stuff like ‘drink less’ ‘eat less’. No fun at all! I just wanna tour the world and play music I guess. And hopefully not get too fat.”

She is drawn to the electronic dance genre of music due to its “people.” “I’ve never been so welcomed into a scene. Making the transition from singer to DJ was one I was worried about but the fans have supported me every step of the way. Literally couldn’t do what I do without them,” she said.

Novelli listed Seven Lions as her dream male collaboration choice. “Well Seven Lions has always been that person to me and recently we got to collaborate together for his new album so that’s pretty amazing,” she said, prior to praising Above & Beyond for their talent, and noted her desire to write with them. She complimented their song “Fly to New York” for being “just killer.”

This April of 2015, Novelli has a full tour being planned for the United States, so fans can catch her there.

She defined the word success as “making music that makes people happy and always pushing herself to be better as a songwriter, DJ and producer.”

For her fans, Novelli said with a smile, “Thank you! From the bottom of my heart. Because of you I have my dream job and I just wanna make you amazing music.”
