Chris Stapleton’s ‘Traveller’ propels to No. 1 on Billboard

Traveller is the best-selling album of the week by a debut country artist in 2015. At this year’s Country Music Association (CMA) awards, Stapleton performed with Justin Timberlake and it was well-received by their peers and critics in the music industry. It has garnered rave reviews from such media outlets as Rolling Stone, NPR Music, Entertainment Weekly, Los Angeles Times and Digital Journal. It was recorded at Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A by Vance Powell, and it was co-produced by Dave Cobb and Chris Stapleton.

He was crowned “New Artist of the Year,” as well as “Male Vocalist of the Year” and Traveller was named “Album of the Year.” This milestone marks the first time in the award show’s history where a new artist collected all three of these major awards.

This week, it reached No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 all-genre charts, as well as the Billboard Top Country Album charts, with sales of 153,428 units and 177,199 equivalent albums. His song “Tennessee Whiskey” is the best-selling digital country tune this week.
