Actor Chris Matteis chatted about being a part of the film “Broken Hearted” and the series “Aidy Kane.”
On starring in ‘”Broken Hearted,” he said, “It was fun. I enjoyed the fact that it was a team effort like most indie films are. Everyone was able to speak their minds on things and have an input. It was nice to be a producer and an actor because I was more involved in the creative process.”
“Everyone in the cast was amazing to work with,” he said.
Matteis had great words about working with Irene Jean Santos and Jennifer Cové. “They were both great and I had many scenes with Irene who was a pleasure to work with. We had great chemistry, which was visible in the movie. They were both a blast,” he said.
For his performance as Brian in “Broken Hearted,” Matteis was nominated for the “Best Actor” Award at the 2020 Long Island International Film Expo. “That was great because it was my first leading role in a full-length feature,” he said.
“Broken Hearted” is available on Amazon Prime Video. “There is a relatability factor in this film. The toxicity in relationships is visible and it showcases that relationships aren’t easy,” he said.
‘Aidy Kane’
Matteis also enjoyed being a part of the comedic series “Aidy Kane,” which was written and directed by Benjamin Bryant.
“Aidy Kane” was nomianted for two Indie Series Awards, which included a nod for “Best Ensemble — Comedy.”
“That was a super fun project,” he admitted. “We all became friends and it was just a great time. I loved showing up on set. I really hope we continue shooting it so we can get back together because it was a great group. You can see how much fun we were all having.”
“Anybody that like sports will get a kick out of ‘Aidy Kane’,” he said. “Outside of the comedy of it, there is a truth to it. ‘Aidy Kane’ is a hysterical show but there is also a life message to it.”
The digital age
On being an actor in the digital age, he said, “It’s different. There are definitely more opportunities in all of these different outlets. There are so many more platforms to be creative as an actor, and that can be beneficial.”
If he were to have any superpower it would be “to fly.” “That way, the world is your oyster and you can go wherever you want whenever you want,” he said.
On the title of the current chapter of his life, he said, “In Progress.” “I am enjoying the journey,” he said.
In track and field, he shared that he would do the 100 meter dash. In swimming, he listed the freestyle as his personal favorite stroke in the sport. Back in his youth, he revealed that he played football and he enjoyed short-distance running.
Matteis defined the word success simply as “being able to act every single day as a full-time career.”
