Lady Gaga tribute performer Tierney chatted about her latest endeavors in the music industry.

Tierney has been performing Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse’s music on the Las Vegas Strip for quite some time now.

Daily motivations

On her daily inspirations as a performer, she said, “Honestly, the fact that I get to do this for a living is so inspiring. I feel so lucky to have found a career path that utilizes my soul’s passions; talents that I’ve nurtured and grown in since I was seven years old.”

“So many people find themselves in careers that they didn’t mean to end up in and feel like they’re missing out in life. For me, tribute work is always exciting and encompasses all my favorite things to do: singing, dancing, costuming, and makeup,” she elaborated.

Joanne Trattoria show

Tierney is looking forward to her forthcoming show at Joanne Trattoria at the Upper West Side of New York City on March 8th titled “Grigio Girls: An Evening with Tierney.”

Ironically enough, Joanne Trattoria is owned by Joe Germanotta, Lady Gaga’s father.

“My upcoming show at Joanne’s will be three sets of Gaga’s greatest music. I’ll be touching on her jazz music, movie tunes, acoustic piano tunes, and of course the pop music,” she said.

“I want guests to feel like they’ve had a mini eras show of Gaga, while also getting to know me and why I’ve done this for 15 years now,” she added.

Tierney on Lady Gaga’s music

“My love for Lady Gaga’s music has shifted reasons over the years,” she said. “Early on, I lived for the outrageous and abstract pop hits. But as she and I grew and matured (we are the same age), I fell in love with her stripped down music like from Joanne.”

“I love that she has shown the world that she can sing literally — anything — by performing jazz. I grew up on the Great American Songbook as well, so when she showed this side of her, I was even more excited,” Tierney elaborated.

“Now, with the new album, I feel so nostalgic and ready to live in her OG pop style again,” she added.

The digital age

On being a part of the digital age, she said, “As an elder millennial (38 years old), I grew up alongside technology.”

“My father was a programmer in Silicon Valley in the ’90s, so I was one of the first kids to have internet in their home! So, to watch and be apart of how technology has grown over the past 30 years feels amazing – it almost feels meant for me,” she said.

“Social media is a part of me in so many ways and a place where I really thrive; I came of age on AIM, Myspace and Facebook. I think as along as we all keep a healthy relationship with it as regards to comments and kind content creation, it’s a really incredible tool to connect people,” she explained.

Future plans

On her future plans, she shared, “I would love to have my own productions touring regularly. I have my show Lady Winehouse: A Tribute to Amy and Gaga that books out, but I’d like to finish developing my all-Gaga production.”

“I want to perform around the world, and even take my daughter with me. I want her to see that her mom has created something for people to enjoy, making a living doing it, and she can too some day,” she said.

Career-defining moments

Regarding her career-defining moments, she stated, “One of the biggest moments earlier in my career was when I was chosen to join world famous tribute show ‘Legends in Concert.’ I had auditioned for them during the ‘Born This Way’ era, but they had felt that I had some more growing to do.”

“It wasn’t until the ‘Artpop’ era that one of their talent scouts saw me at a show and declared right then and there, ‘you’re in legends, baby!” Everything changed after that,” the Lady Gaga impersonator acknowledged.

“Being cast by a show like ‘Legends’ really gives your tribute artistry validity, and I felt at that moment that I had finally made it,” she expressed.

Advice for young and aspiring artists

For young and emerging artists, Tierney said, “My advice for young artists is to learn everything you can about your industry and hone your talents so no one can doubt your credibility – know your music theory and practice every day!”

“Being a classically trained musician has helped me in countless ways and I think it’s part of what has helped me rise to the level that I have in my industry,” she added.

Dream duet choices in music

On her dream duet choices in music, she revealed, “Of course, I would love to sing with Lady Gaga, but a dream duet might be with a male artist. I would say someone like Michael Bublé – I really love singing jazz duets and he’d be so fun to sing with!”

Success

Regarding her definition of the word success, she said, “I think success is this feeling you get when you can look around at your life and feel complete satisfaction with where you are.”

“I’m a working single mom and feel successful every single day knowing that I’m providing a safe and loving home for my daughter by doing what I love to do for a living,” she added.
