Chatting with singer-songwriter Jasmine Thompson: ‘Adore’ (Includes interview)

On her new single “Adore,” she said, “I had a lot of fun recording that song. It came out a couple of weeks ago and we filmed the music video in Los Angeles, and it was really fun and I loved it.”

She added, “I am so happy with everything that has been happening so far.”

The Felix Jaehn remix of “Ain’t Nobody” hit No. 1 on iTunes and that was originally a cover on her YouTube channel. The Robin Schultz track, “Sun Goes Down,” was also a No. 1 hit internationally.

Thompson shared that she was inspired musically by such artists as Adele, The Killers, The Beatles and Taylor Swift. She noted that it is “amazing” to be on Atlantic Records. “It is so great knowing that I am following the footsteps of so many artists that I look up to. Ed Sheeran is on the same label as me, and to think about that is insane,” she said. “The label has been so warm and welcoming to me. They seemed really driven to put out real, soulful records and that meant a lot to me.”

Throughout her career, the Atlantic recording songstress has received over 154 million views on YouTube and has over 1.3 million subscribers for her channel. In addition, she also caught the attention of international DJs and producers such as Robin Schultz, Felix Jaehn, Avicii and Kygo. “I forget quite a lot, and when I check what is happening, I get really excited,” she said. “It is insane, because it is great to have so many people listen to my music.”

For young and aspiring singers, she recommended they put their music out online, as a platform to share their talent. “That is a very good idea, because YouTube is such an amazing platform,” she said. “I am in England at the moment, and so many people worldwide are listening to my music. I have been doing YouTube for four years now, and it took me a while to get here, but it was totally worth it.”
