This summer, he earned first place at the “American Ninja Warrior” Venice Finals. “My ‘American Ninja’ experience has been really good so far. This was done on a very short notice. I had always known about the show, but recently a friend of mine, encouraged me to be on the show, so I sent in my audition tape one week before the deadline, and they accepted me, and that was pretty exciting,” he said.
Coolridge continued, “It was just really cool to be a part of it. Then, I competed in Venice, and I did really well.”
Aside from his experiences on “American Ninja Warrior,” he earned first place recognition at Pitfall Obstacle League, as well as Cory’s Ninja Compound Course and EJ’s Ninja Course. “I have been competing a lot in the smaller ninja competitions. There are a lot of small gyms all around America, and I love competing in all of those as well,” he said.
On his plans for the future, he said, “I moved down to Los Angeles about a year ago on a mission to follow my dreams as an acrobatic and movement artist, and it has taken me some time to really figure out exactly what I want to do with that. My biggest goal is to be sponsored as an athlete to train towards competitions, and also to create beautiful media in art with handstands and flips. That would be the greatest thing: to travel and to create art and to inspire people.”
Affectionately dubbed as “Modern Tarzan,” Coolridge recently produced a video on a new style of movement called “Acro Yoga,” which he enjoys creating, and that video clip may be seen below on his YouTube channel.
His advice for aspiring ninja warriors is as follows: “Keep going for it. For the most part, I didn’t really train for American Ninja Warrior. I enjoy challenging my body and seeing how well I can manipulate myself around obstacles and objects around in an urban environment.”
