Latin country artist Moriah spoke with members of the media on the red carpet of the 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony.

The 2025 induction ceremony was held on Thursday, June 12th at the Marriott Marquis in New York’s Times Square.

On being a part of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Moriah expressed, “I’m honored. I’ve never been to a Songwriters Hall of Fame event before.”

Moriah is a 2025 Abe Olman Scholarship recipient. “It’s wonderful. I will put it directly towards releasing music,” she said. “Now, I can even put out a remix. I am so excited.”

Advice for young and emerging artists

For young and aspiring artists and performers, Moriah encouraged them “not to quit.” “Sometimes, it’s as simple as that, so stay in it,” she underscored. “Don’t quit!”

Stage of her life

On the title of the current chapter of her life, she revealed, “My Year of Fruition.”

“I actually name my years every birthday,” she admitted. “So, last birthday I named this year ‘My Year of Fruition’,” she explained.

Success

Regarding her definition of the word success, she remarked, “Success means having peace and being content.”

Moriah’s Songwriters Hall of Fame performance, honoring Tony Macaulay

Along with her fellow Songwriters Hall of Fame scholarship recipients Sam Opoku, and Daphne Browdy, Moriah performed songs by 2025 inductee Tony Macaulay.

Tony Macaulay is one of the most successful songwriters and record producers of his generation. 24 of his songs were Top 20 hits in his native UK, seven were No. 1 singles there.

Three of these songs topped the charts in the USA. He has won the Ivor Novello Award (the British music business Oscar) nine times, and was twice named Songwriter of the Year — one of only two solo songwriters to ever achieve this feat.

Moriah belted out “(Last Night) I Didn’t Get to Sleep at All” (made famous by The 5th Dimension) where she was able to leave the audience in goosebumps.

Debbie Gibson honored Macaulay with an energetic performance of his timeless classic “Build Me Up Buttercup” prior to his official induction.
