Actor, boxer, and producer Josh Plasse chatted with Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos about his inspirations and his experience in the TV show “iCarly.”
He acknowledged that “iCarly” as “surreal, fun, and restorative.” “Being a part of a show that I grew up watching was pretty incredible for obvious reasons. But beyond that, the cast and crew were so different from any other show I’ve ever been on. Their happiness was contagious, and it really revitalized my love for comedy,” he said.
Regarding his inspirations as a boxer, actor, and producer, he said, “What inspires me is actually the hope to inspire others. Getting up every day knowing that I’ve got something to say, but that I can’t say it without the proper platform to do so is an inspiration on its own. I want to be able to encourage and uplift people, and to do that, I’ll need to earn a platform to show them! They are my inspiration.”
On being an actor, boxer, and producer in the digital age (at a time when streaming and technology are so prevalent), he said, “It feels very exciting and yet daunting. I’ve never been a big fan of social media, but I’m starting to see how it can be a tool for good. As far as streaming goes, I think that’s a long discussion… haha. But in short, more opportunity generally leads to more competition, and competition fuels champions.”
Regarding his future plans, he said, “I am currently producing my company’s first feature film titled ‘Yucca Valley.’ We’re gearing up to film in Oklahoma late this year, so that’s incredibly exciting for me.”
For young and aspiring actors, boxers, and producers, he encouraged them to “never quit.” “That goes for all three. One of the greatest indicators of success is perseverance. The longer you stay at it, the better you’ll get, and the more people you’ll meet along the way,” he said.
“Relationships are everything in entertainment, but they mean nothing without the skills to utilize them. Hanging around and persevering at your craft will ensure you’re getting better daily, and are prepared when an opportunity comes. Don’t give up,” he underscored.
He described working with fellow actor and producer Andrew Gray (“Bling Empire” and “Power Rangers Megaforce”) as an “absolute joy.” “Andrew is a great friend and a great human being. Speaking of perseverance, this guy never quits… he’s all heart, and that deserves nothing but praise. I would work with him on anything,” he said.
On his definition of success, he said, “Success for me is being comfortable in your relationship with God, your family, and yourself. Being comfortable is often overlooked because people mistake laziness and comfort for being the same. True comfortability comes when you’ve reached a place that nothing shakes your three relationships above. For me, that’s success.”
For his fans and supporters, Plasse expressed, “I love you all. Without you, our industry is meaningless. And stay tuned.”
