Ballard is a longtime rider, with more than a decade of riding experience, who has a passion for motorcycles. He has had three No. 1 singles on country radio, and when he is not working on his music, he enjoys hitting the open road on his Triumph Bonneville. “When I was 16, I would drive my dirt bike out on the streets. I’ve been riding for a long time,” he admitted.
Allstate Insurance Company has partnered with the country singer, for its first-ever Guardians of the Ride initiative, which was launched in May. It recognizes safety advocates that have dedicated their lives to improving motorcycle safety through the education of riders and drivers. ”
The five riders that have been named “2016 Guardians of the Ride” are going to join Allstate and Ballard at the annual Sturgis rally in South Dakota, where they will be recognized for their efforts, and their inspiring stories in hopes of encouraging other riders to make safety a priority in their own communities. “The rally is taking place right now. It is day one and it is a beautiful day. The sun is up and I am excited to meet these people. I haven’t met the guardians yet, so I’m going to learn their stories a little more, and celebrate them and their contributions to motorcycle safety,” he said. “There are 100,000 motorcycles in town, so it’s going to be quite a spectacle.”
Ballard just released his sophomore single from his latest studio album, El Rio, which is called “Cigarette,” that was co-penned by country stars Kip Moore, Jaren Johnston of The Cadillac Three and Chris Stapleton. It is the follow-up to his Top 15 lead single “It All Started with a Beer.” “We are excited to be moving on to ‘Cigarette.’ The single basically came out yesterday, and hopefully, people will play the crap out of it, and it will go even higher,” he said. “We’ve had a great time with it. I think people are going to be dancing to it everywhere.”
