Cedric Gervais talks new track ‘With You,’ Grammy win, Armada (Includes interview)

On being a part of the Armada label roster, “It feels great. It’s a great label, and I like the people working there. I think it’s a great fit for me. I am very happy so far with the first single.”

Regarding his new single, “With You,” he said, “Jack Wilby is a great songwriter from the U.K. and he has such an incredible performance on the record, and we decided to put it out. That was a great choice since it is an amazing song.”

His plans for the future include a lot of touring and making new music and remixes. “Just being in the studio and doing a lot of new stuff. You guys can expect a lot of new music,” he said.

On May 20, Gervais will be performing at Marquee Nightclub in New York. “I will be in New York next month. Marquee is my residency. I always play there and I sell it out every time. It is pretty crazy when I play Marquee. I love that place,” he said.

In 2014, Gervais won the Grammy award for “Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical” for “Summertime Sadness,” which featured lead vocals from Lana Del Rey. “The Grammy win has changed my life in a good and in a bad way. The good is that a lot of people want to work with me, and the bad thing, which is still good, is that you expect every record you do after that to do the same, so it’s very difficult as a producer when you win a Grammy and when you have success with a song like that to get back in the studio, but now I’m back in creating music,” he said.

Each day, Gervais is motivated by going to the gym each day. “I motivate myself with a routine. I go to sleep early, I eat well and I make sure to go to the gym first thing in the morning, and then I go to the studio,” he said.

Gervais listed Adele as his dream female collaboration choice and he praised trance vocalist Emma Hewitt. “That would be pretty cool. I saw Emma a few weeks ago, and she was playing right before me,” he said. “I would definitely try to do something with her. I like her.”

As an alternate career choice, Gervais would have chosen to be a “soccer player.”
