Catching up with Yves V: Belgian DJ and producer (Includes interview)

Last week, Yves performed in such countries as Italy and Cyprus. “The shows were really good, but the connecting flights were terrible,” he said. “I played at Guaba Beach Bar, an open-air beach club, in Cyprus, and the people there were crazy.”

On his latest endeavors, he said, “I am always on tour, doing a lot of shows. When I have time, I spend it in the studio, and then I am home for one or two days, and I try to enjoy it here.”

For Yves V, music is everything to him. “I couldn’t imagine by life without electronic music,” he said. “Music is my passion and my way of life. I love to get up every morning and do what I love: checking new music, making music and playing in front of thousands of people. I love the crowds and during my sets, I love interacting with them.”

Regarding the future of electronic music, within the next five years, he said, “I think it is still going to evolve. If you look at the Top 50, there is an overflow of electronic music. It is good now compared to a few years ago. Tech house is getting more and more popular. It is good for the music and the festivals and for the crowds. I hope there will be more diversity.”

In the 2014 DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs poll, he made his debut at No. 55, which was quite flattering for Yves V. “That was actually like a surprise, and of course, I am very happy with it,” he said. “Last year, I was hoping for the Top 90, so to be at No. 55 was amazing. I can only hope that this year people can vote me in the Top 100 again, and I hope to go a few places up, but I am already happy.”
