This year, Wands garnered yet another nomination for “Best of Long Island,” an honor that he has won in the past. “That is fine,” he said.
On his plans for the future, Wands said, “I like doing radio. We do a lot of live events. I travel. It’s good and I’m doing what I love. Radio, I really enjoy. We have a lot of fun doing it, and our audience is growing tremendously. For a Sunday night, which is considered a dead night, we do very well. I will probably do more TV.”
Wands has been tuning in with his listeners through Facebook live, and he is on every Sunday. “It has been amazing! We started out very small and it has grown. Considering it is Sunday, it has been good. Sometimes, it gets a bit crazy because we are trying to do a radio show and answer questions and I don’t want to neglect my audience either, since they are important,” he said. “Facebook is fun since it is a way to reach out to people.”
A published author of six books, Wands revealed that he does not have any new books in the works. “I have been playing with some ideas, and I’m sure I’ll think of something coming up,” he said.
Each day, Wands is motivated by helping people. “I love making the connections and doing what I do. I have been doing it for a long time. I learn every day that there are no coincidences and that things happen for a reason,” he said.
Over the last decade, he has experienced a lot of growth, and he is stunned by the amount of people that he has reached out to. “You realize that effect after the fact,” he said.
His proudest moments include being a father and having two grown sons. “Every day is a proud moment for me. It’s all good things that I am able to experience and grow on a daily basis,” he said.
“Success to me, is being able to reach out to people, and to feel needed. “I’m able to give a service and make a connection, whether it is via the radio or private clientele. I think it is just being recognized,” he said.
