Catching up with Nicky Romero: Electronic music superstar (Includes interview)

His New Year’s resolutions for 2016 are to “be happy.” His plans for the future will involve a great deal of touring, as well as plenty of new music including the third and final part in his “Nicky Romero Trilogy.”

Last year, Romero was recognized by the prestigious DJ Magazine, by being voted No. 18 on its Top 100 DJs poll. “It’s always a nice feeling knowing that people are taking the time to vote for you,” he said, graciously.

On New Year’s Eve, Romero performed at Pier 94 in New York City. “I always love coming back to the city. Pier 94 was an awesome party, and a great way to end last year and bring in the new one!” he exclaimed.

Each day, Romero is motivated by his friends, family, team, as well as his supportive fans.

When asked where he sees the future of electronic dance music in the next five years, Romero responded, “It’s difficult to say what will happen, there’s been such a huge change in the scene if you look back over the past five years. I think it’s an exciting time at the moment as people are pushing themselves and testing boundaries and therefore in the future I think we’ll see even more genres and artists emerging.”

For Romero, it was quite a difficult task to select his Top 3 favorite venues worldwide. “It’s too hard to pick, I’ve played some incredible places. I don’t think I could narrow it down to just three! I’m really enjoying my residency at Omnia at the moment though,” he explained.

Romero had nothing but the kindest words for the country of Greece. “Yes, I’ve played there a few times and always had a blast!” he exclaimed.

For his fans, he concluded by saying a genuine “thank you.”
