Catching up with Mike DelGuidice: Long Island’s ‘Ordinary Guy’ (Includes interview)

Last week, DelGuidice performed a sold-out show at The Paramount in Huntington with Big Shot, his Billy Joel tribute band. “That was fantastic,” he said. “There’s nothing better when you know it is sold out ahead of time. When that happens, it is very exciting.”

Veteran comedian Kevin James made a surprise appearance at their concert, where James introduced the song “Ordinary Guy,” which is featured on his sitcom. “That was great. I love Kevin. He is a really, really good dude. He stayed the whole show and loved it. He has a good personality,” DelGuidice said.

DelGuidice added, “It was a nice validation to have him do that, and for the introduction to come from Kevin himself.”

A proud moment for DelGuice was his feature profile in Rolling Stone magazine. “That was really nice. That was sweet,” he said. “That was Billy Joel being nice, and paying it forward, which he always does.”

On November 25, Big Shot will return to Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh for their annual Black Friday show. “That’s always a biggie. We are going to have a horn section on that one, and we will make it exciting.”
