Catching up with Michael Zhonga: Greek-American EDM artist (Includes interview)

Regarding the success of his previous studio album, Basement Material, he said, “That felt amazing. I love talking with the fans and getting their feedback. It was a really good experience.”

His YouTube cover of Britney Spears’ “I Wanna Go” was a major hit with his fans and viewers. “I was crazy how, out of nowhere, the Britney Spears fans came across it, and it got me the most views. For my standards, 75,000 views was huge,” he said.

Zhonga’s latest single is “Don’t Let Me Go,” his collaboration with Greg Gelis. “Right now, I am doing the EDM collaborations. I just released the new song with a music video. I worked with Greg Gelis, a Greek producer that lives in Germany,” he said. “I don’t think I have ever been this busy. I have worked on so many songs on such a short period of time.”

He is drawn to electronic dance music due to its infectious nature. “I grew up on Britney Spears, euro-pop and techno. I am literally doing exactly what I grew up listening to. I just love electronic music, and catchy hooks. I love the bass,” he said.

Zhonga listed “Mother Monster” Lady Gaga as his dream female duet choice. “I really respect everything that she does,” he said, prior to adding that he would love to collaborate with such electronic music producers and DJs as Tiesto and Avicii.
