Country artist Jordan Davis chatted about his new music, tour, and “Bluebird Days” album.

He just announced his 2024 “Damn Good Time” World Tour. “I am pumped for this tour with Mitchell Tenpenny and Ashley Cooke,” David exclaimed.

Touring

“So far, the tour has been awesome,” he admitted. “All the shows to date have sold out, and that has been really cool. The fan reaction has been great. Every time that we’ve put a new tour together, this is by far, my favorite show. I think it flows well, and you can make more moments because I am doing more songs on this tour than ever before (the older songs and the album cuts that the fans know and love). This tour has been full of those,” he elaborated.

‘Bluebird Days’ album

“That was actually a lot of COVID writing, as well as songs that needed homes. That’s one of the cool things about being a songwriter. Every song is special but not every song fits a project that you are working on. Some of these songs go back to the very start, so it was cool to get some of those out,” he said.

He noted that “Bluebird Days” is a hunting term that he has heard “pretty much” his whole life. “I wrapped that saying where I was at… in both my family life, my career, and in my songwriting. A lot of that was where I was at in my life: the good and the bad. There was definitely some honest writing in there,” he expressed.

“A lot of those songs, I didn’t think I would actually put out… but if I were to release those songs, that was the album to do them for,” he added.

Favorite songs on the album

On his favorite song(s) on the album, he remarked, “I go back and forth between two of them. I know that ‘Bluebird Days,’ the song, was risky to put out. It is something very common and I didn’t want it to come across as something holier-than-thou.”

“Divorce is a part of your life, and it’s a terrible thing,” he said. “My wife, Kristen, and I both come from divorced families, and everybody is fine and great. Since that song, it has been really cool to see a lot of the messages, and hearing from people in meet and greets that the song speaks to him.”

“I also love ‘Fishing Spot’ because it is about my grandfather, and every time I get to sing that one, it takes me to a happier place… fishing with him in Texas,” he admitted.

Davis also described “Whiskey Weak” as a “sleeper song.” “We were kind of nervous about putting that song on the record, but I am glad that it has resonated with people,” he said.

The digital age

On being an artist in the digital age, at a time when streaming, technology, and social media are so prevalent, Davis said, “It’s awesome, mainly because of that. Two of my favorite songs on the album are two non-singles. Thanks to streaming, fans are able to get to those songs, so it’s not just about the singles.”

“Social media is the billboard for you, where you are able to show everybody who you are, and what you are about, and you get to highlight some cool things such as the tour that you are on now, or any successes that we have along the way. It’s just another way for the fans to keep up with us,” he elaborated.

“As a fan of music, myself, I get to keep up with some of my favorite artists. The digital age is great,” he added.

Terminal 5 show in New York

On October 6, Jordan Davis headlined Terminal 5 in New York City. “I can’t wait,” he exclaimed. “Any time that I get to play in New York is great because I will get to eat some good food; that is always a bonus.”

“I remember playing Terminal 5 in the past, as an opener and as a direct support, and now it will be cool to come back there as a headliner. It is going to be a special show,” he exclaimed.

Dream female duet choices in music

Davis listed Lainey Wilson as his dream female duet choice in music. “I would love to do something with Lainey in country, who is my Northern Louisiana pal,” he said.

“Kelsea Ballerini would be a lot of fun to do a duet with too. I would have to float that to her and see if that would be something she would bite on,” he added.

Stage of his life

On the title of the current chapter of his life, Davis said, “Hold on for dear life.”

If he were to have any superpower, he revealed that it would be “to fly or to teleport.” “I would show up right on time to play a show, and then I would teleport back home, and not have to worry about traffic on a tour bus,” he said.

Advice for hopefuls in music

For young and aspiring musicians, he said, “Keep plugging away. ‘No’ is not always a bad thing. I’ve been told the word ‘no’ a lot, especially early on. You need to have a strong mentality as an artist and as a songwriter. If it’s something that you love and you want to do, then do let anybody’s ‘no’ get in the way of that.”

Success

On his definition of the word success, he said, “Being a dad, success shifts to a healthy family life. If you don’t take care of that first, then there is no amount of success in music that is going to make up for that. Success to me now is making sure that everything at home is good.”

Fans

For his fans, Davis remarked about the tour and the album, “The one thing that I want the fans to get out of the record and the tour is authenticity.”

“We tried to carry over the honesty that went into making the record: the honesty in the songwriting, the honesty in the production, as far as letting the songs speak and not trying to overdo it. We’ve really tried to carry that over into the live shows,” he elaborated.

“I hope that the fans that listen to the album, hear the honesty, and I hope the fans that come to the show, see that we are not trying to hide behind a bunch of bells and whistles, or some crazy production; we want to present these songs in the best way that we can musically,” he concluded.
