Catching up with DJ Thomas Newson: ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’ (Includes interview)

Regarding his song, “Home Is Where The Heart Is,” he said, “Well it’s really easy to work with Asonn. He’s such a big talent and we did two tracks together; ‘Banga,’ which was released during Miami this year and ‘Home Is Where The Heart is.’ Regarding the track, he sent me an idea ages ago and I really loved that one from the beginning. So we sent things back and forth and I added more sounds to the track and did another mix down which is really important for a track as well!”

On his bus tour with Revealed Recordings with Hardwell and Kill The Buzz, he said, “It was without doubt the best tour I’ve done so far! The shows were sick, of course, and because you’re literally in a bus the whole day with such a close-knit group. We had so much fun, which is the most important thing for me.”

On March 3, he performed at Marquee New York in the heart of New York City, which marked his third time playing that venue. “That was super dope! It was my third time playing in New York and this was definitely the best one I’ve played so far in New York,” he exclaimed.

His plans for 2016 are to play Ibiza this year, as well as perform in some festivals in Europe, and to do an Asian tour. Each day, Newson is motivated by “going out with friends” and by “having fun.”

When asked if he gets any Leonardo DiCaprio look-alike comparisons (as many fans at Marquee New York had mentioned), he responded, “That’s funny to hear, Leonardo is not an ugly person though!”

As an alternative career choice, Newson would have been a photographer. “I recently bought a camera to take photos and I think I’ve found my second job,” he said with a laugh.

For his loyal fans, he concluded, “Thank you so much for all the support so far! There’s a lot of new stuff coming up so stay tuned and take care!”
