Catching up with Dannic: Top DJ and producer (Includes interview)

On his DJ Magazine recognition, he said, “It’s amazing really, it means a lot because its voted for by the fans. It’s those guys that put me here, so to land so highly in the poll means I am doing something right, and that the fans are still into it.”

The DJ noted that he had some time off relaxing, and he is back in the studio finishing off some tracks that he has been working on.

Dannic has an upcoming residency in Las Vegas, as Digital Journal reported. “Yeah, I am really excited about it. Vegas has its own kind of magic. It really is unique. There is nowhere quite like it in the world. Drai’s is a really cool club and they have a load of new residents joining the roster this year. I am looking forward to my first show so much, it’s going to be good to get back there and play that first track.”

This past November, Dannic played at New York’s Madison Square Garden with his good friend, Hardwell, who was named the No. 1 DJ in the world in 2014. “That was one of the best experiences of my life,” he said. “You grow up as a kid hearing about Madison Square Gardens, it’s famous all around the world. It’s not somewhere I ever imagined being able to visit. To play there with my best friend was a moment I am going to hold on to forever. It’s Madison Square Gardens. It still seems crazy.”

On his new EP Dannic Selections Part 2, he said, “It’s a three track E.P. I got to select three artists who are really exciting me at the moment. I have been playing their tracks out a lot and every time it gets a really great reception. So, I knew already the ones I wanted to include. The feedback so far has been amazing.”

Regarding his plans for the future, he said, “I have a run of U.S. shows which kicks off in February, but no New York show for a little while. I will be back as soon as I can.”

Dannic has been fortunate enough to play in Greece several times. “Each party has been amazing, really amazing atmosphere. The thing I love most, has to be the weather and the people, coming from Holland it can get quite cold in the winter, every time I have been to Greece it’s been amazing and the people are always so welcoming. I would go back and play any time,” he exclaimed.

When asked if he ever get overwhelmed, he responded, “It’s the fans that keep you focused and keep pushing yourself, it’s them that gave me this opportunity. As for getting overwhelmed, sure I don’t think any DJ would say that it’s fun 100 percent of the time, you get tired and miss your family travelling. Then you go out and play to the fans and it’s awesome. Everyone in the scene is close and you have your team around you.”

Dannic listed Ariana Grande as his dream female duet choice. “Ariana is really cool, she has a unique voice, it would be interesting to hear her sing on a dance track,” he said.

For aspiring DJs and EDM producers, Dannic recommended they keep on going. “It’s easy to get disheartened and give up but it’s something the more you dedicate yourself to, the better you get. There is no other way; the guys that I am close with, most have been producing from a very young age.”

Dannic concluded our interview by defining success. “It is about staying true to yourself and what you believe in. If I can keep doing what I am doing now, keep making music, keep on DJ-ing and not compromising on my artistic beliefs and still maintain the connection I do with my fans, that would constitute success,” he said.
