Catching up with country artist Canaan Smith: Tree Vibez Music (Includes interview)

“Life is real good right now,” he admitted. “I am doing good. I signed my new deal with Tree Vibez Music. It’s killer. It’s the best move I have ever made. It feels good to be in a place writing songs, where you feel that they have a good chance of being heard. I am with the right team now. I feel the same way about the songs that I write for other people.”

For Smith, this year’s CMA Music Fest was a “good” experience. “It was really cool. It was more impactful this year, and I spent quality time with the fans,” he said.

Smith shared that he has improved his live show this year. On August 31, 2018, Smith will be playing at The Mohegan Sun Wolf Den in Uncasville, Connecticut. “I am really excited for that concert. The show is kick ass right now. This is the best it has ever been. There are no lights or smoke. It is a bad-ass set from start to finish,” he said. “We will also play some new songs to get the fans excited. It sounds really good in there too. The PA system is awesome there.”

On the impact of technology on the country music business, Smith said, “Personally, I really enjoy discovering new music through those platforms (Spotify and iTunes). I am not the only one. There are a lot of opportunities to find new artists through that medium. It’s exciting, really, since it gives guys like me an opportunity to put out music in a less traditional way.”

Smith also opened up about performing at Stage 17 for the hit country radio station NASH FM 94.7 in New York City last summer. “That was awesome. We had a great time,” he said.
