Actor Cameron Mathison (“General Hospital”) chatted about his latest endeavors, which will include a new hosting gig.

‘General Hospital’

Presently, Mathison plays the role of Drew Cain on the ABC soap opera “General Hospital.”

“‘General Hospital’ has been amazing,” he exclaimed. “It is so much fun. I love the fight scenes, and Drew going back to his more edgy self.”

Prior to “General Hospital,” he starred as Ryan Lavery on the defunct daytime drama “All My Children.”

Latest ventures

On his latest ventures, Mathison revealed, “I have some fun things to announce soon! I can’t tell you what it is but I can say I’m hosting something that has been a blast. It will air next year and I’ll be sure to let you know when I’m allowed to say.”

2023 Christmas Con in New Jersey

Mathison noted that he is excited for the upcoming 2023 Christmas Con at the New Jersey Expo Center in Edison, NJ, which will take place on December 8,9, and 10, 2023. “I always look forward to Christmas Con,” he said. “It’s so fun to see everybody and to feel the Christmas spirit especially in December. More autographs, storytelling on stage, photos and fun.”

‘The Happy Life with Cameron Mathison’ on Great American Community

Mathison acknowledged that he will be shooting new episodes for “The Happy Life with Cameron Mathison” in January of next year for Great American Community. “I’ll have to start thinking of what to shoot,” he noted. “I should put out suggestions and then shoot them.”

Cameron Mathison: The kidney cancer survivor

In his personal life, he is a kidney cancer survivor. In his “State of Mind” episode on Maurice Benard’s podcast, Mathison opened up about growing up with a congenital hip abnormality in his childhood (and how that affected him mentally and why going to therapy was important).

They also discussed Mathison’s kidney cancer diagnosis, having surgery, and how his wife, children and family were a part of his health and wellness journey.

R3 Stem Cell ambassador

In addition, Mathison serves as a brand ambassador for R3 Stem Cell. “Working with R3 Stem Cell treatments is one of the coolest things ever,” he said. “They are such phenomenal people, product, and results. I can’t tell you how much they’ve helped me (and thousands of others). I am so grateful.”

Favorite motto to live by

His favorite motto to live by is the following quote by the late Buddhist monk, meditation teacher and author Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: “All the happiness there is in the world arises from wishing others to be happy.”

“That quote is so beautiful,” he admitted. “Basically by trying to reduce our obsessive self concern and focusing on others and wishing them to be happy, alleviates so much of our mental pain, anxiety, and depression.”

“We feel joyful ourselves and also ultimately help to make others happy as well. It’s a win win. As an actor and host so much emphasis is on self. It is so liberating and joyful to not take ourselves so seriously and focus on others,” he explained.

Fans

For his dedicated fans and supporters, Mathison said, “I would like to say all my professional success is due to you all. It doesn’t matter if I went out and did a good job at a role if you all didn’t enjoy and support it. It’s all because of you. I know and believe that in my heart and I’m so grateful.”
