Teen actresses Bianca and Chiara D’Ambrosio chatted with Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos about their Emmy nominations (and win for Chiara) for “The Bay,” as well as such projects as “Slapface” and “Lady of the Manor.”
Daytime Emmy nominations and win
Chiara won the 2021 Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Younger Performer in a Daytime Fiction Program” for “The Bay,” which was created by Gregori J. Martin. “That was absolutely crazy. I didn’t think it would actually happen. I didn’t think I was going to be nominated, so to be nominated with my sister and all of the other nominees was incredible. To be acknowledged by the Television Academy and the daytime community was a dream come true. I am so blessed,” Chiara said.
Bianca expressed that she was blessed for the nomination as well, where she joined her sister as a nominee for “Outstanding Younger Performer in a Daytime Fiction Program.” “I am so grateful to have the nomination. That was a complete shock,” Bianca said.
‘Slapface’
Both twin sisters star in the horror film “Slapface,” which was written and directed by Jeremiah Kipp, and the cast includes such actors as August Maturo, Libe Barer, Mike Manning, Mirabelle Lee, Lukas Hassel, Alixx Schottland, Curtis Braly, and Dan Hedaya. It was produced by Manning, Nick Theurer, Artisha Mann-Cooper, and Joe Benedetto.
“It was one of the best experiences that we’ve ever had working,” they said. “We spent a week and a half in Upstate New York in the middle of nowhere, and we had such an amazing time. We filmed it in 2019 around Halloween so it was super spooky, and also the cast and crew are so amazing to work with.”
“August Maturo, Mirabelle Lee, and Mike Manning, are such amazing people and we are still close to them to this day,” they said.
“Slapface” will screen at Grimmfest for its regional premiere on October 8th, at 2:35 p.m. at the Odeon 6 Theatre (UK), and October 10th, 7:10 pm at the Odeon 5 Theatre (UK). To learn more information or to obtain tickets, check out the Grimmfest website.
‘Lady of the Manor’
Bianca also had a nice cameo in the comedy “Lady of the Manor,” which was written by Justin and Christian Long. “That was a lot of fun,” Bianca admitted. “The script is incredibly funny and it worked really well.”
Working with Javi Luna
They also shared that they enjoyed the social media videos with actor, artist, and TikTok star Javi Luna. “Javi is such an amazing person,” they said. “He is super fun, and I hope we get to work with him soon, that would be a really fun time. Javi is very nice, very creative, and he is always up for anything.”
‘The Bay’ Season 7
Bianca and Chiara shared that they are extremely excited about Season 7 of “The Bay.” “It is such a fun season,” they said. “We can’t wait for everybody to see it.”
They filmed a good portion of Season 7 in Puerto Rico. “It was our first time there,” they said.
