Emmy award-winning actress Cynthia Watros chatted about her latest endeavors.

Track and field legend Wilma Rudolph once said: “Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us.” Cynthia Watros is such an inspiring woman and actress.

Watros plays the role of Nina on the hit ABC daytime drama “General Hospital.” This year, she earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series” for her portrayal of Nina. “That was a surprise,” she admitted. “I was walking my newly-adopted dog and the executive producer, Frank Valentini, called me and told me that I got nominated and I was like ‘wow’.”

She had great words about fellow actor Johnny Wactor, who played the role of Brando Corbin on the show. “Johnny [Wactor] is such a sweet guy. I love him, I was really sorry that I didn’t get to spend as much time with him,” she said.

On Sunday, October 23rd, she will be a part of a virtual fan event with co-star Kin Shriner, which is produced by Coastal Entertainment. “I am excited. I am a big fan of his. When we have courtroom scenes together and we get to sit side by side, and when the cameras aren’t rolling, he tells me all of these amazing stories about the early days of ‘General Hospital.’ They are so fascinating, he has seen so much,” she said.

“Hopefully, I will get to have more scenes with him. I’m sure Nina will get into some sort of trouble and she will need a lawyer for something,” she said with a sweet laugh.

Later this month, Watros will be a part of two in-person “General Hospital” fan events on Long Island, New York (October 29), and in Andover, Massachusetts (October 30) respectively. Watros will be joined by such “General Hospital” co-stars as James Patrick Stuart, Kathleen Gati, Tristan Rogers, Marcus Coloma, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez. “I am so looking forward to that. I haven’t done that many in-person meet and greets, and I really love them. People have made such an effort to get there and share their stories about watching the show. There is a lot of history and nostalgic feelings about the show. They are quite moving,” she said.

This past June, she was spotlighted in “The Locher Room,” hosted by Alan Locher, alongside Laura Wright. “I love spending time with Laura, and anytime I get to hang out or talk with her, I have a great time. I am a big fan of Alan Locher, he is a good guy,” she said.

On the title of the current chapter of her life, Watros said, “Discovery.”

If she were to have any superpower, it would be “to reach into people’s hearts and alleviate any hatred or anger. I would have the superpower of softening hearts and reminding people that they are full of love.”

Watros noted that she enjoyed being a part of the digital series “Misguided,” which was written, directed, and created by Paul T. Gosselin. “It was nice to play Anne and visit her again,” she said. “I love her and I miss her, it was nice to dabble into the Annie Dutton world again. Paul T. Gosselin is a hard worker.”

If she were to write, direct, and produce her own short film, she revealed that it would be on “women empowerment” and how they can “keep moving forward” with their words, abilities, and strengths as women.

One year ago, she was featured on Maurice Benard’s MB “State of Mind” podcast on mental health. “I loved getting to talk to Maurice about anything related to the mind,” she said. “If I weren’t an actor, I would have been a psychologist or a psychiatrist. I think the mind is fascinating.”

On her definition of success, Watros said, “For me, success never meant to be rich and famous. It was and will always be loving acting and being able to act, and letting that be my profession.”

For her dedicated “General Hospital” fans, she said, “Thank you so much, I love you, and I am so honored to have you in my corner. Being a Nina fan is not easy, you probably get a lot of feedback being a Nina fan. Also, to the people that may not be fans of Nina, thank you for watching. I appreciate it.”
