This marks the country songstress’ seventh career Grammy win. It was for her inspirational single “Something in the Water,” which garnered rave reviews from Digital Journal.
In her category, Underwood bested songs by such artists as Eric Church’s “Give Me Back My Hometown,” Hunter Hayes’ “Invisible,” Miranda Lambert’s “Automatic,” as well as American Idol judge Keith Urban’s “Cop Car.”
While she was not there to accept the award in person, she used Twitter as her acceptance speech. “I WON A GRAMMY! Watching the telecast now online right now & I’m so happy! Thank you to the @TheGRAMMYs and my incredible fans! So amazing!!” she exclaimed in a tweet.
The elated country star added that she is thrilled that this song in particular won the music industry’s highest award. “This song means so much to me. I feel so honored and blessed,” Underwood said in a subsequent tweet.
Her latest single, “Little Toy Guns,” is making its way up the Billboard country charts. “Something in the Water” and “Little Toy Guns” are tracks from her newly-released Greatest Hits album.
