This marks her fourth career win in this prestigious category, where she is tied with Reba McEntire and Martina McBride for the second-most wins as “Female Vocalist.” Only Miranda Lambert has won this award more than any other female artist, with six wins.
Underwood co-hosted the award show with Brad Paisley, and changed a total of eleven times.
For her live performance of her single “Dirty Laundry,” she enlisted many female musicians to help her out. These included Lindsay Ell playing guitar, Runaway June (Naomi Cooke, Jennifer Wayne and Hannah Mulholland) playing their instruments and singing along, as well as Lindi Ortega, Rachel Loy and Elizabeth Chan on drums; moreover, Michael Jackson’s lead guitarist Orianthi also played as part of Underwood’s band.
Underwood tipped her hat to country queen Dolly Parton, during an all-star tribute, which included Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, Reba and Kacey Musgraves, where they serenaded Parton to her smash hit “I Will Always Love You.”
